Simplify Wellness is an in-person, one-on-one strength and movement coaching practice focused on helping individuals move better, get stronger, and return to the activities they love with confidence.
Training is individualized, assessment-driven, and designed to build long-term physical capacity—not quick fixes or random workouts.
Build strength you trust—for real life, not just the gym.
"Heather gave me hope when pain had taken away my ability to do what I love. Her attention to detail, adaptability, and refusal to push through pain made all the difference. I'm stronger, moving better, and having pain-free days again. I'm in very good hands."

Our Space
A clean, focused environment for one-on-one strength and movement coaching in Great Barrington.
In-Person Training Is the Foundation
This is hands-on coaching—not just exercise sessions.
Simplify Wellness is built around in-person strength and movement coaching. Being in the room matters—especially if you have a history of pain, injury, or uncertainty about what your body can handle.
This is not a "show up and sweat" model. It's structured, intentional training designed to build confidence, capacity, and resilience over time.
How I Work
Assessment → Strategy → Progression
Comprehensive Assessment
Every client begins with an in-depth assessment: movement quality and joint capacity, strength balance, posture and breathing, injury history, lifestyle stressors, and your goals. This clarifies what your body needs most—and what can be safely progressed.
Individualized Training Strategy
Your assessment and goals become a clear plan that meets you where you are, builds strength while accounting for injury history, prioritizes quality movement and progressive overload, and supports the life you want. No templates. No guesswork.
Progressive Coaching & Ongoing Adjustment
Training evolves as you do. Programming is adjusted based on how you're moving and tolerating load, reassessments, life stress and schedule, and long-term trends. Progress is intentional—not rushed.
Services
In-Person Strength & Movement Coaching (1:1)
All sessions are one-on-one. For clients who want thoughtful, assessment-driven training; support returning to or maintaining an active lifestyle; coaching that acknowledges setbacks; and a long-term plan—not isolated workouts. Training may include strength development, mobility and joint capacity, core and postural strategies, load management and flare-up navigation, and return-to-activity progression. Frequency: 1x, 2x, or 3x/week. Pricing is discussed after the Wellness Strategy Call.
Hybrid & Remote (Limited)
For established clients or those who need flexibility. Same assessment-based, progression-focused approach.
Why This Works
Strength training isn't linear—especially with a history of pain, injury, or time away. This approach focuses on understanding what your body tolerates, adjusting load when needed, training safely through modifications, and building confidence in your ability to adapt. The goal is resilience, not fragility.
Education Is Part of the Process
Coaching is the service—education supports it.
Education is integrated throughout: sleep and recovery, stress and nervous system regulation, breathing mechanics, nutrition fundamentals, hydration and daily movement. Simplify Wellness does not offer standalone lifestyle or nutrition coaching; all education supports training, performance, and long-term resilience.

About Heather Lynn McDonald
Founder | Strength & Wellness Coach | PTA
I'm Heather—founder of Simplify Wellness, strength and wellness coach, and Physical Therapist Assistant. After my own injury and recovery, I experienced the gap between traditional rehab and long-term training. My background includes nearly a decade in outpatient orthopedics, advanced education in strength and return-to-activity training, and a coaching philosophy that blends clinical reasoning with performance and lifestyle principles. I help clients rebuild trust in their bodies and reclaim strength for the lives they want to live.
Influences & Frameworks: Load management, movement competency, nervous system safety, and long-term adaptability. Frameworks guide decisions—the individual always comes first.

Schedule Your CallFAQ
Is this physical therapy or rehab?
No. Simplify Wellness provides strength and movement coaching—not medical rehabilitation or physical therapy. Coaching focuses on building strength, capacity, and confidence after or well beyond rehab.
Do you guarantee I won't have pain or flare-ups?
No. Flare-ups can happen. What I provide is a structured approach to recognizing, managing, and progressing through them safely and confidently.
Do you offer nutrition coaching?
Nutrition education is included when relevant as part of coaching. Simplify Wellness does not offer nutrition-only coaching.
What do you mean by a "holistic approach"?
Training considers the whole person—stress, sleep, breathing, recovery, nutrition, hydration, daily habits—because all of these influence how your body adapts. The focus remains on strength and movement.
Is 1x/week training effective?
Yes. When paired with intentional programming and education, 1x/week can be very effective. Frequency is selected collaboratively based on goals, history, and lifestyle.
